Has anyone disabled the fan or otherwise limited the noise via a resistor, rheostat or some sort of thermistor?

I built this for a noisey PSU a while ago, it works well ( see link ), I also dropped a resistor across the relay to keep a nice gentle breeze running through the PSU, In other words when the relay kicks in it shorts out the resistor and brings the fan upto full power. I intend to build another and fit it to my sdr1000....Barry
