I get a light clicking sound out of the headphone output no matter where the audio levels are set. The level of the clicks stay the same. I can mute everything and the click is still there. I used a couple of different receivers to amplify the audio and it didn't help. If I change the receiver audio input it goes away. It is coming from the 1500 unit. It is a random pattern of clicks not any further apart then a few seconds. Some times there will be a quick string of 3 or 4 clicks. Clicks or ticks would be a good description of the sound. If I stop the radio while it is still powered up, it goes away.

Thanks for any help and info

Try running totally shutting down your home power (at the main circuit breaker) and running your rig from a battery.

If the noise goes away then your QTH is generating the noise.

...and then have fun setting all those clocks and things....

Make sure that you are using a stereo plug or not shorting one leg to ground or together.. This can cause an overcurrent in the internal chip and a constant clicking.. Also if the headset is too low an impedance , this will cause high current and overloading also...

Exactly the same problem appeared at my Flex1500 when upgrading from 2.06 to 2.64. I am using stereo phones, problem with cw monitor delay is now solved, but new audio srcatches becomes very naughty.
