I fired up the 1500 this morning and the mon button is blacked out, will not let me click it.

I am running PowerSDR 2.5.3.

Does anyone know why this button doesn't work?

Ok i have been playing around and found that the mon button works on SSB and CW but not on AM.

Is that typical or could there be some type of bug?

Should be o.K. .... Using a Flex 1k5 and the same PSDR version. The button works in all sideband , digital and cw modes but not in AM, SAM, FM, DRM and SPEC

Call: DF5WW (Class A) ... OP: Juergen (Joe) .... Rig: Only QRP with Flex 1,5k and 2 x 25 m folded doublet with balance feedline for all bands (under the roof). Also a 10,3 m Quadloop for 10 and 6 ... feeded with ladderline too and also under the roof.

When you do use MON on SSB you get a delay. You hear what you said a few milliseconds after you said it. It does not take more than a couple of seconds of that to turn MON off.

Where MON is useful is when you transmitting a pre-recorded message.

I use the Mon button in digital mode 80 percent of the time. A very nice function to have.

Yep, MON doesn't work on AM. I use a seperate RX to monitor my AM audio when needed. Nothing complicated, just an old Montgomery Ward Airline multiband portable radio which covers most of the HF ham bands and has good audio. Works well for the purpose

Correct, with the 1500 you can not monitor the AM audio due to the way the audio is routed. On the 5000 with second receiver you can listing to the AM TX audio. Or as one suggested, use an external receiver.
