My FLEX-1500 is shipping and I'm looking for a little info.

I am running Windows 7, and I tend to run my machines very clean only loading what I really need on them.

My Questions are:

Are there any common programs that tend to Not play well with the FLEX radios that I should be aware of?

Are there issues using Multiple monitors?

Is there anything i should watch out for?

Thank you

You should not have any problem with the 1500 because it uses USB not fire wire. A cpu with 2.0 and 4 gig of ram will run a 1500 perfect. New computers and windows 7 is even better. Now a Flex 3000 and the 5000 need firewire and that's another storie.

Thank you

Last night I refreshed my PC from a Snapshot, put on any updates and made a new snapshot,
so now I have a nice clean and up to date system all ready for the Flex-1500 to hook to.

Welcome to the world of SDRs by FlexRadio and welcome to the forums.

Excellent question, since 90% of the radio is actually is running the SW on your computer, computer setup and compatibility is important.

Wireless drivers can be a problem for causing large delays in program sequencing.. Also any program that goes out to the Internet for constant updates, for example Norton Internet Suite, McAfee Internet suite, or maybe an online back up programs like Carbonite. Hard wired connection drivers have not caused an issue, just mainly the wireless, as some drivers will hang waiting for the access point security to clear or time out. You will need to have .NET Framework 3.5 installed but this will come up during installation .

Trust this helps, and again welcome.

Thank you Dudley,

I tend to run my systems pretty stripped down loading only
what is needed and then cleaning up the OS a bit as well.
Having been in the IT industry for over 20 years I tend to realize
that a clean OS can do wonders for helping an app run smoothly.

I'm not a big fan of wireless and have the whole house hardwired.

I read where someone said something along the lines of 'Forget what you
know about how other radios work' there is a bit of truth in that statement.
Now that I've started to figure out the controls I'm even more impressed.

I was playing with a 0-500 KHz converter setup as a transverter and was pleased
to see how it seamlessly switched it in and out of the line as I adjusted the frequency.
