Wondering how much power it is safe to run when running JT-65. Also curious, WJST manual specifies no AGC - set AGC to "fixed" to turn it off? Manual is a little vague.

Tnx

I use both a 1500 and a Flex 3000 on JT65HF on the upper top right corner the TX Meter tick on it bring up ALC meter. The meter should read 0 or -1 but never above 0 no +1 you'll shorten the life of the rig.
Now when in transmit, the VAC TX GAIN to left of the filter the bottom slider used read "0" or "-0" or maybe lower.
You don't need more than a couple watts to maybe ten watts to work the world on this mode
One other thing in any mode digital mode the VAC RXGain should be -5 to -10
Hope that helps
I you need more help or screen shots of setup email me . email is correct on QRZ

Jim,

Very useful. And pretty much the same operating parameters as PSK and the other digital modes - duh!

Thank you for your quick response.
