I am an avid broadcast band listener and would like to record what i hear for future use and to "pass on" to other Dx'ers......

The built in recording feature does not allow very long broadcasts to be be recorded, and they are in .wav format which is a huge file system.

does any Flex user have any suggestions for me please?

many thanks.....

Steve. UK.

Hi Steve use an OGG Vorbis recorder like this: http://www.blazemp.com/ogg_recorder_software.htm to make records in smaller dimensions. You have to use VAC and you can set it up in the recorders control center.

Steve,

One suggestion is to run a double male stereo 1/8" cable from the headphone jack to your sound card input. Then use a program to record the audio as a MP3.. Yo can also set VAC1 "Output" to the SoundMapper and record that way, but the internal volume and mute will not function, then set the program to the SoundMapper.

One program that can record direct to MP3 is Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Another I really like is Audio MP3 Editor

http://www.audio2x.com/ameditor/index.htm

Easy to use

Hope this helps.

Steve,

As mentioned you can use VAC to send the audio to a recorder, like MP3 Editor or Audacity , both free. or you can just use the built in WAV recorder, but set it to simple wave recording so that it doesn't take so much space. Set the options of Wave recorder to Post Processed , RX (audio in ) and Pre Processed for TX , or radio buttons to the "inside" on the Wave , Options menu.. Then use these programs to convert from wav to mp3 or use VAC and record direct.

MP3 Editor

Audacity -

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Hope this helps.
