I need some help. While running PowerSDR 2.4.x with my Flex-1500 in Windows 7 Pro x86, I was encountering USB crashes upon reboot (BSOD). As it wasn't catastrophic it didn't bother me.

Move forward many months and I now rebuilt my computer and it's running Windows 8 Professional x64. Everything installed properly until I got to FlexControl. Although it works, I now encounter the same USB crash whenever the computer reboots (new "friendlier" BSOD LOL). I confirmed this by unplugging the FlexControl and no more USB crashes on reboot.

As this was probably the cause of the BSOD in Win 7 Pro x86, it looks like it is also the same with Win 8 Pro x64.

I have more USB3.0 ports than USB2.0 so I added a 7-port USB2.0 expansion. At this time, the Flex-1500 is direct to the computer while the FlexControl was in the USB2.0 hub (only FlexControl and Microsoft HD camera are connected to the hub. I rebooted after uninstalling the camera drivers and unplugging it but the USB crash continued).

BTW, if I connected the Flex-1500 to a USB3.0 port, it refused to be recognized although it is supposed to be backwards compatible (go figure?)

One last note... I have NOT installed VAC or any other virtualization software yet (I was using VAC in Win 7)

Any ideas???

Is the USB hub powered, or unpowered? Is there any way to get the FlexControl into a USB 2.0 port directly?

I'm running the same software environment you are, and it works fine, so there's hope!

The hub is powered... I also tried directly to the USB2 port on the motherboard with the same results. Seems like an IRQ conflict but I can't see which one it is?

By the way, one of the USB3 ports is "high powered". However, the USB3 ports are compatible with USB2 but I believe that the FlexControl is USB1.x. Must be as it is NOT recognized when connected into USB3 ports
