Why is it that there is simply not enough talkpower in the flex 3000 radio.
I have setup my modulation several times using the audio gain distribution from W1AEX but my modulation is still much to weak

http://www.w1aex.com/psdrgain/psdrgain.html

Only if i put the tx meter to mic en than put the mic slider up to 0DB at the tx meter, the modulation gets louder and better.
In this case the leveler and IQ meter is far in the red zone witch should result in a very bad modulation but the modulation sounds just fine!
This should not be the case of course so if anyone can tell me what to do to get correct settings and modulation would be great!!

I am using a flex 3000 and a Heil PR-781 mic.
IQ settings are at 0 db for the preamp with the 3 bands IQ

Hi,

I am using the front input.
There is no mixer here, just the 3 band EQ build in the flexradio.

Lots of good info. I have setup some info on just what we are talking . All might not work with your Mic but  a good staring point. If you are  new to the Flex Radio's.

Hi Jim,
Your settings are almost the same as mine.
But still not enough talkpower.

I do hope they start working on this with a new update.

Hans,

You seem to have adjusted MIC gain okay to 0dB.

You wont overdrive, as you see even in red the output is managed by the radio but it could be sonding much better

With meter now set to EQ, open the EQ window and adjust the EQ LEVEL SLIDER on the left to get the EQ meter back down to 0dB also (by speaking into mic).

Then switch meter to over to LEVELLER and whilst talking, do the same by adjusting the LEVELLER gain in the Main Options menu. (set it to 0dB and its probbaly ok)

I turn the leveller OFF completely in the main menu, uncheck the box, and I find it sounds more natural without.

Now put meter to ALC and speak - you can transmit on 0 or 100 watts for testing, and adjust the MIC on the front page slider to keep ALC below 0dB.

You should find that very little adjustment is required.

Add DX of maybe 4 on the front page slider (click the DX button) if you need more punch.

Steve

Hi Steve,
Thanks very much for your respond!
All the stapes that you mention I already have done.
But still to low talkpower!!

I really do think that it is time for an update to solve this problem!!

Thanks again for your support!!
