M0GTT....Hi...I'm knew to SDR radios also....I bought a Flex 3000 a few months ago and didn't know what computer to get either....I went to three websites and downloaded info on what a good Flex Ready computer should be composed of...I went to these three sites: http://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/products.php http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50063.aspx http://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/Hardware.htm I took this info to a local computer shop and had a Flex Ready computer built...I went a little overboard but my Flex 3000 runs super well and am also able to be on the internet and run other applications at the same time the Flex is running with no problems....as far as I can tell there is absolutely no latency....I got the I-7 processor, 1 terrabyte hard drive, tons of RAM. etc...I paid about $1350 USD for this computer but I am glad I did as it "smokes" ....buy what you can afford ....in my opinion the bigger the better....hope this helps...Good luck....Joe, W5SSS
