Jim,

If you are using VAC button to run your RX audio through the computer speakers, this is your problem. The radio was intended for the RX audio to come out the HeadPhone jack and this is where the powered speakers should be connected. The AF gain will vary the volume of the Headphone jack and the powered speakers. If you must have the RX audio out the computer speakers, use a stereo cable with 1/8 " plugs from the Headphone jack to the sound card Line-in ..

The use of the VAC button enables the settings in the VAC tab of setup, intended when using the actual VAC (Virtual Audio Cables) SW that needs to be purchased, used to move RX audio from PowerSDR to another program such as a digital mode program like MixW, FLDigi, EasyPal, etc.. These are at continuous levels, AF gain has no control on it..

Hope this helps.
