I have been using my 1500 for about 5 months with ZERO issues.

It was in use last week, when I shut down the SDR program and disconnected my 1500. A few moments later, reconnected the 1500 to my laptop and did NOT hear the USB acknowledgement from my laptop.

Checked "device manager" and found only the "flex USB kernel".

Un-installed all SDR programs and re-loaded the CD. Followed the instruction booklet from 1500. No luck, same problem.

The OS is windows XP

Any ideas??

Hello

That is normal.

Try another USB device (like a key or a mouse) on the port of your computer.

If Ok, check USB cable between computer and Flex or try another one.

You can also try to plug the Flex in another USB port of your computer.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your advice.

I have been using my laptop with other USB devices, and switched the USB cable. I do not have an acknowledgement
only from my Flex 1500.

Have not tried another computer, wife will not let me near her computer.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Just want to update this report;

Problem was ic-15, USB port interface. Was damaged via a static discharge or a RF-EMI pulse.
Flex Radio replaced the ic and returned it to me in good time.

Theory is; to connect a ground strap to PC (or laptop) and link the strap to transceiver, external linear amp, and antenna ground system.

Using it now, for about 2-weeks, interfaced into my Drake TR7.
This arrangement, gives me a triple- conversion Flex 1500 using the TR7;
-volume control, audio amp, and speaker
-microphone, and mic amp
-band switch and VFO control
-internal 150 watt output RF amplifier and external amp key line.

All of this is connected thru the Flex "Flexwire" db-9 connector and the "XVTX/C" bnc connector to
an interface kit installed into the TR7. Most important is the ground strap to the Flex 1500, TR7, and laptop.

Will be beta testing this for a couple more weeks, so far, so good.

As my Flex 1500 has failed out of warranty I think It should be known that in the early production runs their is a inherent fault in that the 3.3v regulator IC28 that supply's the USB chip is likely to fail.
A factory modification was done to add a 1SS400 diode if the regulator chip IC28 a TPS79333DBV has failed.
And later production runs have the diode already installed.
Why Flex has not let the general Flexers know about the mod baffles me as I would have thought that those with early S/N Flex 1500 may want to check and do the mod if required to prevent IC28 from possible failure.
The PDF File is known as :ECOMAN-1030_FLEX-1500_Diode-3.3V_regulator: should be made available to all Flex 1500 early S/N owners
