Hi,

Got my SDR-1000 2 days ago and set it up and fantastic on receive. When I went to test transmit, no mic connected, I noticed a carrier on my sideband. Almost like there is carrier insertion like in the old ssb radios of yesteryear. Checking other radios I have I do not have that. What did I not do? The carrier is there also with the mic connected. Is this a software setup item or is there a carrier null on one of the boards?

Jim,

If using USB, how far below the center carrier frequency do you hear the tone? I have always experienced something similar , but no one has ever commented about it while on the air.

How are you measuring this carrier?  If you are measuring with another receiver in the room, you may be picking up the local oscillator due to proximity.  If this is the case, others will not be able to hear it.  Probably the best diagnosis for this issue is to get signal reports on-the-air.
