Just how confident is anyone that delivery of the 1500 will happen in March?

FlexRadio hasn't indicated otherwise, but they should start shipping at the end of March. I will be doing the Raleigh hamfest on 3-April-10 and will have one at the booth.

Usually when FlexRadio releases a radio, the shipping volumes are low for the first couple of weeks until they work the kinks out of the product delivery process (manufacturing, assembly, test, packaging & shipping). Then they kick it into high gear.

I've had one on order since February 17, 2009. At that time the delivery date was something like "Spring 2009" and the price was $499 to boot. At the Hamcation booth last month Steve Hicks said they had 300 orders and would "definitely" ship in March.

This thing is already almost a year late so promises, promises.

Tim - I'll also be at the Raleigh hamfest. How about I save FLEX some shipping and pick up mine there? My order was placed at Dayton last year.

I will not have any radios with me at Dayton other than the ones on display. NC is funny about you having a tax ID if you sell radios in state and FlexRadio, being a TX company doesn't want to deal with the NC department of revenue. I am just taking orders.

Since you had one on order since last May, you should be in the front of the queue to get yours when they start shipping.

Been waiting since Nov. 2008 . .    When I ordered it, they were not sure if it would have a 5 watt amp !

But I do not want to see it until they have it all working right . .   I can always wait while they are making it sweet and perfect.

Patient in seattle . .

I can't say a lot, due to my NDA with FlexRadio, but the FLEX-1500 is coming along very well. A few pre-production kinks are being worked out, but that is a normal thing at this stage of a product deployment cycle. It is going to be a nice little radio and will have one hot RX for a QRP rig.

That is certainly bad news. I ordered my 1500 last July.

Of course we have known all along that the 1500 would be breaking new ground - for Flex anyway - by using a USB interface instead of the Firewire used with the 3000 and 5000.

We also know that the USB interface makes it's debut in the new Power SDR Version 2.0 software - which involves other new features not exclusive to the Flex 1500.

I wonder whether the Flex 1500 USB issue is holding up the new software or vice versa?

I have kept myself amused since last July playing with an RF Space SDR-IQ receiver which seems to work happily (via USB, including powering) with every PC I have tried it on - ranging from little Web PC's through to a 3 GHz Pentium 4. Maybe the technical challenges are less in a RX-only box - despite the fact that the SDR-IQ has the same 192KHz bandwidth as a Flex 5000? Or maybe the DDC technology in the SDR-IQ is inherently less demanding than than the Tayloe mixer approach that Flex uses?
