I am still wrapping my mind around the 3000, but the startup was painless. I adapted an electret mic headset to the unit and it works fine. There are two items on the SSB check list that should be added: In the setup menu, make sure that the Receive only box is not checked in the General => HW config menu and that the "Disable PTT" is UNCHECKED in the Options menu.
